Being home companions are the main functions of toy dog breeds. Due to the size it is not uncommon for pet parents to work for the pet. Dog owners usually bring the pet along wherever they go but because of the size, the toy dog will be seen being carried or riding in trendy pet carrier bags. The Russian Toy Terrier is one of these pampered toy dog breeds. The Russian Toy Terrier breed which is also known as Russkiy Toy, Moscow Toy Terriera and Muscovinian Miniature Terrier is one of the toy dog breeds that is well accepted by the dog loving public not only in Russia but in other parts of the world. Dogs are highly valued in Russia. Owning a purebred dog is a commoner’s ticket to rubbing elbows with the aristocracy. The Russian aristocracy has kept popular breeds of hunting dogs. The ladies of the royal family have their favorite dog breeds as well. The popularity of toy breeds soared during the 17th and 18th centuries. Ladies dogs was a name given to toy breeds because these small dogs are favored by the female members of the aristocracy. It has been a custom for aristocratic ladies to be photographed with their miniature pets. The Russian Toy Terrier is immensely popular during that era. This miniature dog measures from 8 to 10 inches at the withers and commonly weighs from 3 to 6 pounds. With this kind of measurement, the Russian Toy Terrier can easily qualify as the smallest breed of dog. A Russian Toy Terrier has two variants – a smooth coated type and a long coated variant. One type of Russian Toy Terrier has the looks of a small deer with its long but stick-like legs, small head, small muzzle, deer-like big eyes and large upstanding ears. Both the long haired and the short haired types are very similar in body structure. The ears of the long haired type is covered with long hair. This type has ears that appears like the wings of a butterfly because of the long plumes of hair. These miniature dogs make good pets. These toy dogs are very sweet, affectionate and loyal thus it would be very hard not to love this dogs. This toy dog is a suitable choice for an apartment dweller or for aging and less active dog owners. Being small in size, these dogs don’t have high exercise requirements and they can easily satisfy their need to exercise inside the home.
